Who we are

Buyrent is a Lagos property marketplace connecting home seekers with verified agents and landlords. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and NDPR.

What we collect

Home seekers: name, phone, email, date of birth, occupation, employer, income range, marital status, household size, current address, and guarantor name and phone. The information Lagos listers require to consider an application.

Agents and landlords: name, phone, email, agency details, LASRERA registration number, and verification documents (government ID, CAC registration, proof of ownership, landlord authorization letters).

Activity: listings, applications, inspection outcomes, reports, and price-confirmation history.

How we use it

To verify agents and landlords before they can list; to share a seeker's application profile with the lister of a property they apply to (and only that lister); to schedule and record inspections; to investigate reports and enforce platform rules; and to keep prices and availability honest.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with anyone except as described here or as required by law.

Where it lives

Data is stored with Supabase (our database and storage provider) with row-level security: verification documents are in a private bucket readable only by their owner and Buyrent administrators; a seeker's profile is only readable by listers they have applied to.

Administrative actions (verification decisions, suspensions, delistings) are recorded in an append-only audit log.

Document retention

Verification documents (IDs, LASRERA certificates, C of O and other ownership papers) are reviewed only by Buyrent's verification team: every viewing is logged in an append-only ledger, and documents open watermarked.

Original files are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after upload. The clock pauses while a verification is still under review. What remains is the verification record: what was checked, by whom, when, and the outcome. Not the document itself.

Your rights

You can view your profile in the app at any time. You can delete your account from Profile → Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile, applications, documents, listings, and files. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by email.

We retain data only while your account exists, plus what the law requires us to keep.

Changes

We will update this page as the product evolves (for example, when payments launch) and note material changes in the app.
